Happy !st Anniversary to Tech Hub for Tutors!

Happy 1st Anniversary to Tech Coach for Tutors @TechTutorInnovate!

It was just about a year ago when I decided to venture into the world of coaching tutors with their technology.

I kept seeing people asking the same questions over and over about how to organize their lessons and move to online tutoring. I had several student teachers while in the classroom, so I already knew how to support adult learners.

In my head, I kept thinking about my own experiences and how I too had the initial struggle when I moved to independent, private online tutoring.

My initial online tutoring experience was quite easy! I was hired by a United States company. They lined up my students, they provided the scheduling software, they had a bank of questions I could use for tutoring, and they had the software. The only thing I had to worry about was showing up and teaching. The downside to this was that I wasn't getting the perfect client for me, and the pay was quite low.

I wrapped my head around how I could transition to online tutoring on MY OWN.

As I went, I used all of my Google for Educators Training, and launched my private online tutoring business.

I initially used Google Calendar for my scheduling. I used Google Sheets to create invoices. I used Google Meet for my meetings and Google Classroom for my lessons. (I still rely heavily on all of those, but I have changed some of my systems.)

Over the last three years, Google Meet has improved their platform and added new features that make teaching from it fun and simple.

Inside of the Tech Hub for Tutors, educators have access to the steps I took to set up Google Classroom and use it effectively with their students. But, did you know you can use it to house a course?

The Tech Hub for Tutors get to attend monthly Membership chats and Workshops that support all areas of tutoring (both in-person and online tutoring practices are supported.)

Members have access to the library 24 hours per day, so it doesn't matter what time zone you are in, you can review steps for Google Classroom, Google Meet, Google Slides and Docs, Google Calendar. Not to mention the additional trainings covering email services and launching and growing a YouTube Channel!

If you haven't joined, you are always invited! Click the link to learn more!

I want to send out a huge thank you to the Educators who have partnered with me to host events for Tutors. I want to thank my incredible group of tutors who trust me for advice and training inside the Tech Hub for Tutors. And, I want to thank the amazing families that trust me to educate their children. I know that I am blessed and I am so thankful I get to share my knowledge with others.

The Year in Review! This year has been a year of growth for me professionally as well as for my students! Let's chat about it! For my students: Most of my students were published in a poetry anthology earlier this year. This was inspired by a review of poetry during our spring assessment review. I wanted it to be fun, and sometimes just reading poetry is not as exciting for those boring slides that we can read with old poems on them. We dove in and learned about rhyming, poetry patterns, and...

Have You Discovered The Tutoring with Sheryl Podcast? Yes, it is a REAL thing! I began a podcast about 5 or 6 years ago as I was learning new strategies to use in my classroom with my students. It was always a goal of mine to get the kids to learn new technologies that they could use later in life. As I was learning more about Google apps, I began my journey preparing for the Google for Educators Certification. One of the things you had to understand was how to create a blog and at that time,...

I know that I have a couple of additional items to get purchased and wrapped for some special people in my life! I guess I had better get moving on that! A few years ago, I put together a list of ideas for parents and I had posted it on my old website. I had focused on math games for kids. I dove into my...
