“I’m a Banker. I Don’t Speak Teacher.”

I had a great conversation with a parent seeking tutoring services yesterday. She had wonderful questions but felt stuck because she was a banker and couldn't really understand the "Teacher Talk" she was hearing when she was speaking with her child's teacher.

The new buzz words floating around are "The Science of Reading" and "Structured Literacy."

Let's break this down so you can understand what your child's teacher might be saying to you.

YOU WANT to know this information so YOU can be an informed decision maker when it comes to your child's learning.

If your child is having any type of intervention, is on a learning plan, sees a Speech Teacher, has a 504 Plan or an IEP, or has a tutor, YOU WANT to know this information! It is valuable and YOU can understand what the educator is telling you when they are talking about The Science of Reading and Structured Literacy.

I created this video to help break the buzz words down. I hope you will find it helpful!

Let me know your thoughts! If I forgot to add something or YOU have had an experience with NOT understanding what your child's teacher is telling you, let me know. We can break it down and help you understand it!

Don't stay in the dark!
