This week I put together The Dyslexia Road Map to help you get a grasp on what Dyslexia is and what it isn't. I also addressed specific things you can do to start the conversation at school to get the help your child deserves. And, I offered some simple solutions to help any struggling reader.

I meet with kids all over the United States and Canada. One of my homeschool kids was so excited at this morning's lesson. He said he had read a book to his mother this week and she was so excited that he was reading faster and making better stops at the end of his sentences. (Fluency for the win!) I can teach spelling patterns all day long and it DOES help many of the kids I support. However, sometimes a speech issue will actually keep a child from using the pattern because they continue to say the word wrong.
